Transforming a Traditional Garage with a Stylish Rosewood Finish
For this recent installation in the Stow-on-the-Wold area, the homeowner was looking to replace an ageing garage door with something that would complement the character of the property while improving day-to-day usability, security and reliability.
The existing timber-effect up-and-over door had served its purpose for many years, but it was beginning to show its age, esppecially the mechanisms, and lacked the convenience and security features available on modern garage doors.
After discussing the available options, the customer selected a Hörmann Retractable Up & Over Garage Door in the attractive 2601 Decograin Rosewood finish, combining traditional aesthetics with modern engineering.
Before & After
The original door featured a dark timber-effect appearance, but the new installation provides a cleaner, more refined finish with improved operation and enhanced security. By installing the new door behind the opening rather than within it, we were also able to maximise the available drive-through width, making access into the garage easier.
The installation included carefully repositioning a cable above the lintel and finishing the opening with matching Rosewood trims to clad the existing frame and reveal blockwork, creating a smart, fully integrated appearance.
Additional Security Features
De-Latching Kit
The installation included a de-latching kit, which automatically locks the door securely when it closes. This significantly improves security compared with many older garage door systems, making it much more difficult for the door to be forced open from outside.
External Handle Operated Emergency Release
Because the garage does not provide another means of entry, an external emergency release was installed. This allows the homeowner to safely disengage the operator from outside using a secure key-operated mechanism should there ever be a power cut or motor issue, ensuring access is never lost.
